About Us

Hi, I’m Jo, lady behind the cakes and treats. Leeston local and mum of two. I’ve been in the hospitality industry for 30-odd years, but honestly enjoyed the kitchen since I was a child baking with my mum. Through the years and stages of life and parenting I’ve operated five food businesses, I’ve been a chocolatier and I’ve even worked at McDonald’s - but that was more of a love story, as it’s where I met my partner of 30 years, Christian.

For Goodness Cake was born from the need of a lifestyle change and is basically a curation of all the things I like making the most! My best selling raspberry cheesecake, Mars bar cheesecake and banoffee pies are the same recipe as when I was a baby learning my way around a professional kitchen just out of high school.

And that’s a bit about me! I just can’t keep away from the kitchen.
